World Refugee Day

Friday, June 9th, 5:00-9:30pm ET*
Alexandria Country Day School 2400 Russell Rd,
Alexandria, VA

Join us in celebrating and welcoming the refugees in the DC area with a collaborative art project! June 9th is World Refugee Day, and Lutheran Social Services is hosting a carnival to honor and mark this important holiday. Celebration Center will be working with the clients from all over the DC area to create a collaborative art project that can hang in the lobby of the new Resource Center located in Alexandria.

The style of art will be modeled after Alma Thomas, an African-American Artist from Washington, DC. She was the first graduate of Howard University’s Art Department. To learn more about this amazing woman and her incredible art, visit https://americanart.si.edu/artist/alma-thomas-4778.
